LINE OF HARRIET DEUEL SWAYZE

FIRST GENERATION

James ROBBERTSZ was born about 1687 in England.  He married Weyntje Klaarwater, March 1712, Old Dutch Church, Kingston, NY.  Date of marriage was not given, however, they had three Sunday publications in  Church of Kingston without any objection on the 2nd of March 1712.  Weyntje was born  in Marbletown, the daughter of Teunis Jacobsen Klaarwater and Maria Hanssen Vos

Children of James Roberse and Weyntje Klaarwater were Johannes, Jacobus, Maria, Elisabeth, Jan, Maria, Elsje, Jesias and Josiah Roberse
.  All children baptized Old Dutch Church, Kingston, except for the last child, Josiah, baptized Reformed Dutch Marbletown, NY.

2. Josiah ROBERSE, son of James Roberse and Weyntje Klaarwater was born Marbletown,Ulster Co. NY,  baptized March 23, 1729, Reformed Dutch Church, Marbletown, NY.  He died 1807, Marbletown, NY.  He married Catherine Van Wagenen. Bans published April 6, 1754, Old Dutch Church, Kingston, NY, date not given.  Catherine was born, Wagondale, Ulster County, NY, and baptized Oct. 14, 1733.  She was the daughter of Isaac Van Wagenen and Catrina Freer

On Sept. 12, 1764, they were received as members of the Rochester RDC on certificate from the KRDC, and he later became and Elder of the Rochester RDC.

Children of Josiah Roberse and Catherine Van Wagenen were Isaac and Sara
(baptized Old Dutch Church, Kingston), Elizabeth, Jacobus and Isaiah (baptized Reformed Dutch Church, Marbletown), John, David, Ebenezer and Maria (baptized Rochester Reformed Church, Accord, Ulster County, NY).

The will of Jesiah Robeson
, written Jan 24, 1794, lists his wife Catharine, four sons,
Isaac, John, David and Ebenezer Lewis; two daughters, Sarah and Mary; and three grandchildren, Isaiah, Jonas and Simon.  Elizabeth, Jacobus and Isaiah are not mentioned.

Revolutionary war records indicate Josiah Roberson served as a Captain in
Cantine's Regiment New York Militia.  Records also indicate Josiah Robison
served as a private in same regiment. The name, Josiah Robison appears with the
rank of Private on a Pay Roll of Capt. Benj. Kortreght's Co. in Col. John Cantine's Reg't on the Western frontiers, June 1779. Time of service, 12 days.

3.  Ebenezer Lewis ROBISON, son of Josiah Roberse and Catharina Van Wagenen, was born Marbletown,  baptized October 27, 1771, Rochester
Reformed Church, Accord, NY.  He died Ulster County, NY.  He married Lydia
Van Der Mark
, daughter of Sylvester Van Der Mark and Margaret Rapalje

Their children were Cathrina (Caty), Ebenezer J., John, Lydia, Wyntje, Abraham, Elizabeth, Isaac, Jacob and Richard.

June 3, 1798, Ebenezer Lowis Roberson and his wife, Lidia Vandemark were received as members of the Marbletown Reformed Dutch Church. Cathrina, Lydia, Wyntje, Abraham were baptized Reformed Dutch Church, Marbletown, NY.  Jacob was born 1808 in Caroline, Tompkins County, NY and  is quite probable that  Elizabeth, born 1804, and Isaac, born 1806. were probably born Caroline, NY.  A document written by Lydia's daughter, Harriet Deuel, states she moved to Caroline, NY when she was a young girl.  It is believed that Ebenezer Robison and his wife Lydia returned to Ulster County, died and are buried there.
