Francis Bandfield was the son of Benjamin Bandfield and Phoebe Robinson.
We have a copy of a letter Phoebe wrote to her sister Mary Ann Robinson Swayze.
Names mentioned in the letter: Abby, John, Jake, Francis, Michael's son in Nebraska, Mary Ann, and John Barnes. Michael moved to Missouri, they have pressed him in the Northern Army and Young Ben has enlisted for 3 years. Most of the names are those of her children

1893/94, herded 3,000 sheep in Arizona
1894-1916, Soldiers home in Los Angeles, CA
In a statement to the Bureau of Pensions, Francis Bandfield stated " I was never married have no family. nor never had. As to children well if there is any I can't locate them." Aug. 17, 1898.
General Affidavit, dated May 9, 1916, "I enlisted in Capt. Magruders Co. I, 1st US Artillery (1860) and with many others for political reasons we deserted me going north and the Captain south. I enlisted Oct. 1861 and was discharged........
