Benjamin Bandfield was the son of Benjamin Bandfield and Phoebe Robinson.
We have a copy of a letter Phoebe wrote to her sister Mary Ann Robinson Swayze.
Names mentioned in the letter: Abby, John, Jake, Francis, Michael's son in Nebraska, Mary Ann, and John Barnes. Michael moved to Missouri, they have pressed him in the Northern Army and Young Ben has enlisted for 3 years. Most of the names are those of her children.

He tried to enlist at age 15 and was not taken because of age - then when they asked for volunteers (when he was 16) he reenlisted at Shabonna, IL (said he was 16). Brother William was said to have enlisted with him at this time.
1912: Address of Margaret P. Bandfield, 202 Shilliam Ave, Waterlooo, Black Hawk, Iowa. One child, Margaret, under the age of sixteen years.
